Batchery pop-up market debuts Saturday

It’s been a good long while since Granola Lab has participated in a market. The drought ends this Saturday! We’ll be joined by over a dozen other small-batch food makers at the Batchery‘s first ever event. It’s a pop-up market at the Bat Haus in Bushwick, right around the corner from the Jefferson L stop.

Love the color scheme! It matches our Brewers Bar labels perfectly. Speaking of, we’ll have bars for sale at the market, along with all our granola varieties. So celebrate this February thaw with an excursion to the Batchery!

The Lab launches on The Grommet

Granola Lab will be featured on The Grommet this Tuesday! The Grommet launches several new products each week, helping small companies gain national exposure. Our granola will launch on Tuesday, February 11th right here. Have any pressing granola-related questions? I’ll be on hand with answers starting at noon. Just scroll down to the comment board at the bottom of our Grommet page.

Bonus: if you spend more than $50, shipping is FREE!

Cypress Inn Cafe reborn in Ridgewood

I feel a little guilty saying this, but Ridgewood, Queens is where it’s at. Friends keep moving there, new restaurants are opening up, and most of the neighborhood is quiet and pleasant, yet obviously urban. Is Ridgewood our city’s latest candidate for rapid over-development? Perhaps, but the POINT of this post is not socio-political; rather, it’s to celebrate our newest partner in Queens, the Cypress Inn Cafe.

This little corner cafe is a gem. It hits all the right notes: great coffee, tasty bites, mellow yet convivial vibe, and superb customer service from the owner, Ridgewood-native Vincent Signorelli. (That’s his mother pictured above our granola on their pantry goods shelf.) Cypress Inn will be pure perfection once their liquor license comes through!

If you’re in the neighborhood, look for the decades-old “Cypress Inn Bar” sign that still hangs on the corner of Stanhope and Cypress and have a granola and yogurt parfait courtesy Granola Lab and the Cypress Inn Cafe.

Whole Foods Brooklyn opens & we’re IN IT (to win it)

Brooklyn’s very first Whole Foods Market is finally open! We were allowed inside yesterday to take a look before today’s grand opening and, boy oh boy, what a beauty she is. It’s strange to describe a mere grocery store in such terms, but really, Whole Foods is so much more than your average supermarket. And you’ll have to forgive us for getting a little emotional; after all, this is Granola Lab’s VERY FIRST Whole Foods location!

The store, in Gowanus on the corner of Third Avenue and 3rd Street, includes a rooftop restaurant, bar, and farm with views of South Brooklyn and the lower Manhattan skyline. Four GL flavors are on the shelves: Activation Energy, Cranberry Cashew Compound, Elemental Formula, and Mediterranean Mix. We’re included in a couple of their gift baskets, too.

Our first in-store demo is scheduled for Friday, 12/27 from 11 am to 3 pm, but all you locals should check out our new food mecca tout de suite!

Shopping days are here again, as the winter evenings glow

The twelve shopping days of Christmas have begun! Granola Lab is leaping and dancing through the holidays…well, maybe more like sleeplessly baking and packaging. But we’re excited for these final two weekends of holiday markets and hope you’ll stop by.

This Saturday’s Fort Greene Holiday Market at the Arts & Letters School will have a fab array of vendors. We’ll be there with all our granola wares and a lovely selection of scarves. That’s right! My mother knits scarves all year long, too many to give to friends and family. We’re excited to be selling her intricately designed wonders in various colors, made of cotton, wool, or acrylic.

The Lab is still at the Brooklyn Flea/Smorgasburg indoor winter market every weekend through January 5! The Winter Flea is a one-stop-shopping-and-eating mecca, open from 10-7 both weekend days. Join us!

Holiday shopping at Brooklyn Flea, PS 29 + the Slow Food Show

The new winter Brooklyn Flea/Smorgasburg indoor market is SO BIG and SO AWESOME that, well, we just can’t wait to move in and start selling this Saturday! We’ll have all your favorite Granola Lab flavors on hand, along with holiday gift boxes, and our maddeningly addictive cranberry-chocolate granola cookies.

The WinterFlea — love that name — is open from 10-7 every Saturday and Sunday through Christmas, and 10-6 on weekends thereafter. Our booth is in the Smorgasburg section, near Lab friends Salty Road, Queen Majesty, Cocktail Crate, and so many more. 80 North 5th in Williamsburg, BK!

Granola Lab is doing TRIPLE duty on Sunday (12/8). In addition to the WinterFlea, we’ll be at Eat Pie and Shop at Cobble Hill’s PS 29 and the Slow Food Show at the Astor Center.

Who wouldn’t want to eat pie whilst shopping for holiday gifts? The parent-organizers of this annual event will make sure that plenty of flavors are available to satisfy every taste. In addition to all our granola wares, we’ll be selling some amazing winter scarves, hand-knit by my very talented mother. I’m not just saying that! Her work is beautiful; each wool, cotton, or acrylic scarf knit in a complex pattern and lovely color.

The Third Annual Slow Food Show is “a showcase of local food entrepreneurs who are small-scale and hands-on, sharing a commitment to good, clean, and fair food.” So slow it down this Sunday and join me at the Astor Center, 399 Lafayette Street, from 1-5 pm.

Welcome to the new granolalab.com!

It’s been a long and winding road, but our new website is complete! We’ve wanted to create our own online shop for a while now, but our old site, snazzy as it was, didn’t accommodate e-commerce. So, take a look around! Our new SHOP includes all your old favorites, plus two holiday gift sets.

BEER LOVERS GIFT CRATE - This set has a little something for everyone. Inside a reusable, hand-stenciled wooden crate is a pint glass with the Granola Lab logo, two Brewers Bars, and two bags of our granola. Enjoy the granola for breakfast, Brewers Bars for an afternoon snack, then lift your pint glass for an evening toast!

COFFEE LOVERS GIFT BOX - The good folks at Crop to Cup Coffee provide us with beans for our Activation Energy granola. To celebrate this collaboration, we’ve put together a caffeinated duo for your morning delight. Included are a pouch of Burundi Bukeye coffee beans and a bag of Activation Energy.

To celebrate our virtual relaunch, we’re extending a 15% discount off all orders through Monday, 12/2. Just enter the coupon code welcome15 when you check out. You can still order from our Etsy shop, but the current discount only applies here.

Many thanks to Heather Shimmin for the site build-out and to Matt Belanger of Rabbit Stew for the design and significant troubleshooting.

We’ll have special gift sets available, plus all your favorite granola varieties.
