Cypress Inn Cafe reborn in Ridgewood

I feel a little guilty saying this, but Ridgewood, Queens is where it’s at. Friends keep moving there, new restaurants are opening up, and most of the neighborhood is quiet and pleasant, yet obviously urban. Is Ridgewood our city’s latest candidate for rapid over-development? Perhaps, but the POINT of this post is not socio-political; rather, it’s to celebrate our newest partner in Queens, the Cypress Inn Cafe.

This little corner cafe is a gem. It hits all the right notes: great coffee, tasty bites, mellow yet convivial vibe, and superb customer service from the owner, Ridgewood-native Vincent Signorelli. (That’s his mother pictured above our granola on their pantry goods shelf.) Cypress Inn will be pure perfection once their liquor license comes through!

If you’re in the neighborhood, look for the decades-old “Cypress Inn Bar” sign that still hangs on the corner of Stanhope and Cypress and have a granola and yogurt parfait courtesy Granola Lab and the Cypress Inn Cafe.

Whole Foods Brooklyn opens & we’re IN IT (to win it)

Brooklyn’s very first Whole Foods Market is finally open! We were allowed inside yesterday to take a look before today’s grand opening and, boy oh boy, what a beauty she is. It’s strange to describe a mere grocery store in such terms, but really, Whole Foods is so much more than your average supermarket. And you’ll have to forgive us for getting a little emotional; after all, this is Granola Lab’s VERY FIRST Whole Foods location!

The store, in Gowanus on the corner of Third Avenue and 3rd Street, includes a rooftop restaurant, bar, and farm with views of South Brooklyn and the lower Manhattan skyline. Four GL flavors are on the shelves: Activation Energy, Cranberry Cashew Compound, Elemental Formula, and Mediterranean Mix. We’re included in a couple of their gift baskets, too.

Our first in-store demo is scheduled for Friday, 12/27 from 11 am to 3 pm, but all you locals should check out our new food mecca tout de suite!

Granola Lab joins Buunni Coffee at the Bryant Park Holiday Shops

The holiday shopping season is underway. Proof: Bryant Park’s Winter Village opened on Friday, with over 125 neat and tidy little shops lining the walkways. Our friends at Buunni Coffee have their own outpost at this shopping mecca and are selling Granola Lab alongside their amazing coffee beans.

They’re offering fair-trade chocolates, pottery, and some fine wares from Ethiopia as well.

Cafe Buunni is in a lovely residential area of Washington Heights. They sell our granola at the cafe and we’re so pleased they’ve brought us along to Bryant Park. Available for gifting or your everyday breakfast/snacking needs: Activation Energy, Cranberry Cashew Compound, and Mediterranean Mix. Their booth, near the corner of 42nd Street and 6th Avenue (facing 42nd), will be open every day through January 5, 2014.

Granola Lab is Now in Bed Bath and Beyond in Iselin, NJ

Get your Activation Energy, Cranberry Cashew or Get Gingersnapping at the Woodbridge shopping centre. Granola Lab is now available at the Bed Bath and Beyond in Iselin, NJ.

Granola Lab is proud to part of the retailers included in the grocery section of select Bed Bath and Beyond stores. So next time you’re there picking up a bathmat, wine glasses, and a santoku knife, don’t forget the granola!

Granola Lab is Now in Michigan

Now the residents of Farmington Hills, MI can enjoy Granola Lab tastiness! Bed Bath and Beyond at Hunters Square is now carrying Granola Lab.

A few years ago, Bed Bath and Beyond began selling food items at select stores, which makes sense. If you’re going into a store to buy cereal bowls, why not buy the cereal too?

Granola Lab was first available at the Bed Bath and Beyond on 6th Avenue (between 18th and 19th) in Manhattan about a year ago. It is now stocked at 6 Bed Bath & Beyond stores (6th Avenue, Manhattan; East Hannover, NJ; Schaumburg, IL; Vienna, VA; Iselin, NJ; and now in Farmington HIlls).

Queens-bound or bust

We’re excited to announce that Granola Lab is available in two locations in Queens! The borough to our north is just as deserving of delicious, high-quality, preservative-free granola as Brooklyn and Manhattan. Sorry it took us so long to get to you!

Our first two stores are Foodcellar & Co. in Long Island City and Vitality & Health Natural Market in Astoria.

We’ll be demo-ing the goods at Foodcellar this Sunday from 12-4 pm. They’re on 47th Road, right by Gantry Plaza State Park (an amazing riverside spot, I must say).
